For those pursuing deeper study or trying to memorize the notes on the fretboard, it’s nice to have a vague idea why things are laid out the way they are on an ukulele. Western music uses 12 notes, in this order: A – A#/Bb – B – C – C#/Db – D – D#/Eb – E – F – F#/Gb – G – G#/Ab. It’s called the chromatic scale.
