It’s a great Banff hike for sunrise or sunset, and it rarely disappoints. The best part is it’s only 4.5 km round trip and shouldn’t take more than one hour up. It’s also one of the easiest winter hikes you can do with only 266 meters of elevation gain. Stroll Down Banff Ave.

Hiking up the switchbacks and making it to Larch Valley may take you anywhere between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours. Once you reach the end of the switchbacks, you have climbed most of your elevation gain (unless you plan to hike up to Sentinel Pass).
